Every parent/ carer with children at the school automatically becomes a member of our wonderful team and we welcome any parent/ carer to support us on our mission to raise funds for Downsview Primary School and build a stronger community. We aim to support the teachers in their role to provide a stimulating environment and enhance the children's learning experience by fundraising and organising social and community events. The money raised helps to pay for extra school equipment and activities. We also work alongside the school's Junior Governors to have 'pupil voice' on our spending. Our team is a great way to meet people and play an active role in your child's schooling experience. It doesn't require a huge amount of time, a regular commitment or any special training.
Our Committee members are:
Chair: Beatrix
Secretary: Sonali
Treasurer: Aurora
Staff representative: Nikki Gray, Senior Assistant Head Teacher

Help us raise money for free! It's easy! Did you know that whenever you buy anything online or in store you could be collecting free donations for Downsview? Many companies, such as Amazon, Sainsburys, John Lewis, Tesco and M&S, plus thousands more, will make a FREE donation to us every time you shop with them online.
What do you need to do?
Many UK companies will match the money that is raised by PTA fundraising initiatives if their employees are parents of pupils who attend a school with a PTA/ Friends team. Please check with your employer if they provide match funding and let us know. Match funding can greatly enhance Downsview PTA fundraising!
We are excited to announce the introduction of Year Group Representatives, a new volunteer role within our school community.
This role is being introduced to help streamline communication between parents, the school, and the PTA (Friends of Downsview - FOD).
As a school, we’ve noticed an increase in the number of individual messages and queries about various topics, which can be challenging to manage effectively.
By introducing Year Group Representatives, we hope to create a more efficient and organised way to address collective concerns and share important updates with parents.
Year Group Representatives will:
● Act as a key point of contact for parents within their year group.
● Gather non-urgent feedback or concerns raised by parents and share these with the school, helping us identify common themes and provide better support.
● Cascade important school communications, such as updates, workshop details, and resources, ensuring all parents stay informed.
● Share information about FOD events, including booking links and event details, to encourage participation and support our school community.
This role will help ensure a smoother flow of information between the school, parents, and the FOD, making it easier for everyone to stay connected and informed.
A strong partnership between parents and the school is key to creating the best possible environment for our children to thrive. Year Group Representatives will play an important part in building this connection by helping parents feel supported and ensuring feedback is shared in a constructive and organised way.
We are looking for parents who are approachable, organised, and keen to support their year group. If you are interested in volunteering for this role or would like more information, please contact: friends@downsview.croydon.sch.uk.
In case of multiple volunteers, we are going to pick a name out of a hat.
Thank you for helping us strengthen our school community and ensure effective communication for all.
Best wishes,
FOD
