Deferred Entry and Summer-Born Children

Children are entitled to a full-time school place in the September following their fourth birthday. However, parents may choose to defer their child's entry until later in the academic year, provided the child takes up their place within the Reception year.

Parents of children born between 1 April and 31 August (known as summer-born children) may request that their child is admitted to Reception in the September following their fifth birthday rather than entering Year 1. Each request will be considered on an individual basis in line with the School Admissions Code and guidance from the Local Authority.
